Straight-talking.

Human. Done the Wright Way.

Since 2017, we’ve been providing straightforward, professional HR advice to Shropshire and the surrounding area.

At the heart of Wright HR is Ishbel Lapper. After two decades working in Human Resources, she established her own HR company to help businesses of all shapes and sizes and share her wealth of experience.

“I have a deep understanding of business and what it takes to succeed. As a result, I can work hand in hand with companies to reach satisfactory conclusions to their HR issues.”

How Wright HR supports your business

For over 20 years, Ishbel has been at the centre of the HR industry, working with some of the country’s best-known names. From manufacturing, transport, automotive, hospitality, media, retail, public sector, care industry and social housing sectors, Ishbel has built up a wealth of experience and a library of knowledge along the way.

Her specialisms include all aspects of employment law and contracts, as well as chairing investigations, disciplinary, grievance, redundancy, TUPE and performance meetings. She also brings expert insight into absence management, recruitment and employee engagement, along with a host of other HR Solutions.

She previously led in-house HR departments before deciding to use her extensive knowledge to establish her own business helping small to medium-sized businesses across the country.

Her professional qualifications and experience have taught her that every business is unique.

Professional qualifications and experience.

“My experience working in many different industries has shown me that getting your people management right is vital for any company. It cannot be a one size fits all situation.”

Beyond Wright HR

To sprinkle in the ‘Human’ of Human Resources, meet Ishbel beyond Wright HR.

When she’s not untangling employment law or supporting businesses, Ishbel can be found in Shropshire with her husband Robert and their daughter Willow. Family time is her favourite way to switch off, ideally involving laughter, relaxation, a cheeky drink, and absolutely no HR policies.

Fun facts you didn’t know you needed:

  • Ishbel’s daughter, Willow Susan, is named after the film Willow and her mum. Film buff and family tribute in one.
  • Favourite films? St Elmo’s Fire and The Breakfast Club. (clearly a fan of 80s classics).
  • She loves cats, iced buns and the colour pink.
  • Biggest heartbreak? Westlife’s and Take That’s final tours. Still too soon.

Wright HR’s Extensive client list

Wright HR has worked with an extensive list of clients, providing bespoke HR consultancy with Ishbel’s wealth of experience. In a sensitive area, they trust Wright HR.

Can’t see what you are looking for?

I blend strategic thinking with hands‑on support. I’m warm, honest, and practical and I don’t hide behind jargon or scare tactics. My job is to make your life easier, your processes clearer, and your culture stronger.

I keep things simple. I offer retained support, project‑based work, or ad‑hoc help when something crops up. I’m flexible, responsive, and always focused on making HR feel approachable and human.

My pricing is straightforward and transparent. The cost depends on what you need some clients want ongoing retained support, others need help with a one‑off project, and some just need me to step in for a specific issue. Once you tell me what’s happening in your business, I’ll give you a clear outline of the work involved and a fixed cost or day rate, so you know exactly what to expect. No surprises, no hidden extras just honest pricing that reflects the support you need.

Yes confidentiality is at the heart of how I work. HR often involves sensitive, personal and sometimes difficult information, and you can trust that anything you share with me is treated with professionalism and discretion. I follow strict ethical standards, only use information for the purpose you’ve given it, and handle everything with the care it deserves. If you ever want to understand how your data is handled more broadly, you can check Microsoft’s privacy statement, but from my side, you can expect respect, confidentiality and good practice at every step.

Yes and this is actually really common. I don’t replace your existing HR team; I strengthen it. Many organisations bring me in to provide extra capacity, specialist expertise, or an external perspective when things get busy or complex. I can pick up projects your internal team doesn’t have time for, support with sensitive cases where an independent voice is helpful, or offer strategic guidance to help shape culture, structure and long‑term planning.

Think of me as an extension of your HR function someone who can step in, take pressure off, and make sure nothing slips through the cracks. Your team keeps doing what they do best, and I help make everything run even more smoothly.

Of course. Many clients start with a conversation. You tell me what’s going on, and I’ll help you work out what support would make the biggest difference. No pressure, no judgement just honest guidance.
